Let's Talk About Food #2 - Recreating Pear Naengmyeon
Hello there!!!
I'm back with food again hahaha.
Days back, I remember watching Late Night Cafeteria and saw Goo Hara making Jjolmyeon with this famous Korean Pear Juice and everyone was saying how yummy it was despite being SUPERRRR EASYYYY to make.
SO!
I decided to try it out myself but I couldn't find any jjolmyeon around *sobs*, so I made do with Buckwheat Noodles!
(Heard Jjolmyeon has a very chewy texture but this Buckwheat Noodles I'm using doesn't have that so..... T _ T)
Here's Pear Naengmyeon (Cold Noodles)!
What I used:
Buckwheat Noodles I got from some Korean Mart
Ice Cubes (lol)
Pickled Cucumber my mom made beforehand but you can always use plain sliced cucumbers
Korean Pear Juice
Sesame Oil
Soy Sauce
Vinegar
Hara's version was with jjolmyeon + 2 tablespoon of soy sauce + 1 tablespoon of Vinegar + 1 tablespoon of Sesame Oil.
But I didn't follow the exact amount and ended up dumping a whole lot of other stuff inside to match my tastebuds haha.
The Buckwheat noodles I bought!
About $8 below I think. Quite affordable, 4 servings, so I took out 1 serving to make this Naengmyeon.
Here are my cheena seasonings HAHAHA.
And the awesome pear juice.
I cooked my buckwheat noodles and just take note that Buckwheat noodles cook really quickly unlike pasta so please don't leave it there in the pot forever haha.
It was done in about 2-3min!
Pour it out and wash under cold/lukewarm water!
After that, leave it aside to make your 'soup'!
Pour in one can of the pear juice! One can = one serving.
(Beware - Pear Juice is quite sweet so if you don't like to eat something sweet, you have to tweak the seasonings later to make it more savoury)
I added about 3 tablespoons of Soy Sauce!
About 2 tablespoons of Vinegar (if you like it more sour, please add more!)
And one tablespoon of sesame oil because too much might be way too oily (although sesame oil smells and tastes awesome I know).
And then add ice cubes and mix!!!!
Add in your noodles after. I think I made way too much noodles but OH WELL ALREADY MADE THEM.
Added in pickled cucumbers after for the crunchy texture yums.
Trust me, you NEED to add cucumbers (don't have to be pickled) else your dish will taste way too boring.
If you don't like cucumbers you can always make do with carrot (but I hate carrots).
AND TAADAAAAAA.
DONE.
